An Update on the Smith Auto Parts Store

Remember in the last article I said I would love to go inside of this, my favorite building in East Liverpool, and get a closer look at the safe? Guess what we got to do? thanks to Karyn Locke, we were able to go inside. She had seen the door open and went down and asked before we got there. Way to go Karyn!! While we were asked not to take any pictures, we were allowed inside and I got my close up look at the safe. It says HALLS SAFE AND LOCK COMPANY on the front. It is the original safe for Potters National Bank. I talked to the man working there and he said the owner was out of town for another week or so. He also told me that they are going before the city council on September 16 to find out when the building will be torn down. He said they can take what they want from inside, so they are definitly taking the safe. They are not allowed to take anything off of the outside of the building. I want to know what the fate of the PNB will be that is above the door way. I want them to save it. With the economy being so bad, I wish they would give the owners a little more time to find the money to fix it. I hate to lose it. While it might belong to the Smith Family, it really belongs to everyone who cares about our city's history. I don't know about you,but I am sick of parking lots.

You should investigate an area more than once.....

I have been down East Liverpool several times over the last two years (someone named Harvey talks across from the courthouse, and some one named Mary talks on the street in front of the Family Repeat.)Repeated visits to a location can better help to determine if a site is haunted or not. Thompson Park, for example, was fairly quiet, but now, it is very exciting. East Liverpool is no exception.
My favorite building in East Liverpool is the Smith Auto Parts Store. I talked to the owner once and he said the safe was still inside. Under the front door where the PNB is above the door, is a large hole. Mike put his camera inside the hole and snapped this picture. You can actually see the safe on the right side. It is old and I would love a closer look. What will they do with it when they tear it down? Will it get destroyed too? Amy says the spirits of at least two people reside inside. Who are they? What will happen to them when the building is destroyed?
I never tire of taking pictures of this building. It will be a huge loss when they tear is down. Mike, Amber, Masion, and I were in town last night doing a little EVP work in some of the locations on the tour. We got a few things. I'M NOT JOKING-In front of my favorite building. We also asked if we could come back again, and got a really nice YES. We heard POCKET CHANGE in front of the library and CAN'T REACH in front of the clock tower. Mike had his name said MICHAEL in the parking lot beside the Masonic Temple. On one recorder it says WE KNOW EVERYTHING in front of the clock tower also.
I hope you get to come at 4pm today for a ghostly tour of the city.
