Cry Baby Bridge is one of the Legends of Columbiana County. A young mother was supposed to have cast her baby over the side of the bridge and it fell to it's death.
Now, while standing on this bridge, if you are very quiet, you are supposed to be able to hear the cries of this poor baby. I first went here is 2006, expecting a bridge that was about 50 feet high. It is maybe 10 feet off the ground.
I also heard there were witches spells written all over it and a pentagram drawn on it, too. None of that is true either. But, it is eerie there. It is a road that is closed and hasn't been used in years. This legend even says if you cross the bridge and follow the road, you simply disappear and are never seen again. Hmm. We tried that in 2006, but nothing happened. Last month at the fair I was told the bridge was torn down, so today I went looking for it and found it right where it was supposed to be. A beautiful reminder of times gone by and an adventure waiting to be had.

Hi,i was wondering where in salem is this bridge located at? thanxs
It is off of Egypt Road approx.2/3 of the way from Painter Road to New Albany. I was there this summer remembering a girl I went to high school with that was murdered & her body was left at the gate by the bridge.
A few months ago a woman was murdered and her body was burned on the bridge.
That was last October 25th, 2010. The woman's body was found on the road just before the bridge as there is a steel gate that blocks the entrance to the bridge. I knew her when we were kids because I went to school with her.
In the 1980's, the bridge and surrounding area was the site of satanic rituals. I was going thru some old boxes last week & found the newspaper clippings documenting this. It was an extremely active area at that time.
Also, the "Get me down" EVP was more than likely from the man who hanged himself there in the 1970's, from the bridge. The bridge is technically on Pine Lake Road. If you follow it through the field, you will come out on the other end, which is very steep, narrow & impassable in a vehicle other than a dirtbike or quad. It was closed down in the late 80's or early 90's. i don't know when you visited the bridge, but there used to be a huge red pentagram painted on the road of the bridge. Probably left over from the satanic days.
Yes, I remember that the 80's were an active time of rituals. I grew up on the other end of Pine Lake Rd.(West Pine Lake Rd.)I had moved away in the early 70's but still went back to Salem every summer. This end, where the bridge is, is East PL Rd. We used to sled ride down Reeds Hill. Which is the hill you are speaking of. I was just at the bridge this summer & I know of the "Get Me Down" EVP that you spoke of but I think the huge red pentagram painted on the road of the bridge is long gone. We used to fish, shoot rifle's & pistols off that bridge. many memories were made on, near, around, & under that bridge.
I don't suppose you would have any pictures of it from back then? The Bridge may be a candidate for a historical bridge since it is a steel truss of sorts. I sent picks of it to a bridge site and I am waiting to see what they say. Any other stories about it? We had a psychic with us the one night we went and she was really bothered about crossing the bridge onto the road to nowhere. She could not give a definite reason why.
I'm sorry but I have no pictures of the bridge. I've been across that bridge many times, both back in the 60's & 70's, when the bridge was open and since it has been closed. No walk down "The Road To Nowhere" more eerie than since the bridge has been closed & the growth on & around the road has increased.
